OUR COMMITMENT
KEEN is committed to keeping all products and packaging free of PFAS. We’ve worked diligently since 2018 to maintain this commitment and to share our journey and process.
OUR APPROACH
KEEN actively bans the use of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) throughout our supply chain, as outlined in our Chemical Management & Restricted Substances List. Keeping these harmful chemicals out of our products requires constant vigilance, and we recognize that the work is never fully done. To maintain our PFAS Free status, KEEN prioritizes:
* Applying the precautionary principle to only use water repellency where it is truly needed and always using PFAS-free solutions.
* Maintaining a strong Chemical Management & RSL policy aligned with and exceeding the latest industry standards.
* Testing components and materials for PFAS during the development and production processes utilizing accredited 3rd party labs, such as SGS and Intertek.
* Annually allocating an appropriate budget for RSL testing.
* Working to ensure suppliers and partners understand our standards and can continuously meet them.
* Verifying that finished goods are PFAS Free through additional random testing, prioritizing high-risk styles.
